Lucy Rees – Horses in Company

Justine will be speaking at the Equine Behaviour Forum Scientific Seminar at Writtle University College on September 28. Her lecture ‘Notes from the field’ will focus on the practice of horse behaviour consulting and feature some of her cases.

Lucy Rees, the brilliant equine ethologist and author of ‘Horses in Company’ and The Horse’s Mind’ will be speaking at the seminar for the first time in many years, making this a must see event!

Talks start at 11am:

Morning Session: “Notes from the field” Justine Harrison CHBC

Behaviour problems have been cited as one of the biggest factors causing horse owners to sell or euthanise their horse. However, there has been little research into the nature of behaviour problems and successful behaviour modification.

Equine behaviour consultant Justine Harrison will talk about her work and how she uses LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) principles along with the science of behaviour and learning to help horse owners solve their horse behaviour problems. Justine will analyse her last 100 cases to reveal common behavioural issues, patterns and trends in management and training. She will also review several real-life case studies of different behaviour problems.

Afternoon session: Lucy Rees will talk (two sessions) on various subjects including her latest book “Horses in Company”. So many people have said over the years that Lucy was the reason they became interested or more knowledgeable about equine behaviour so we are very privileged to have her speak at our last seminar.

As this is the last ever EBF seminar to be held members can attend free of charge (paid up EBF members who receive the journal, not facebook members).

The theatre holds 200 so there is no worry about getting a place (in theory). There is a cafe and pub nearby.

Tickets are FREE for Equine Behaviour Forum members and £20 for non-members.
